Williams Lake, BC – Libraries in the Cariboo and Chilcotin are set to tentatively return to service beginning on May 14th, with modifications to most library services due to the ongoing labour dispute with BCGEU.
Regional libraries in Quesnel, Williams Lake, and 100 Mile House set to fully reopen to the public. These libraries will resume normal operations during regular operating hours, and regularly scheduled library programs will resume. Rural community branch libraries will be operating on a curbside pickup basis only, and patrons can attend one of our rural locations to pickup an item they have placed on hold. Patrons can place holds through the Cariboo Library Network’s website and will be contacted by library staff if pickup is arranged for one of our rural branches. Information is available online for rural branch locations and operating hours.
Patrons should be aware that BCGEU may set up picket lines without prior notice to the communities impacted or the Regional District. If the Union begins picketing at any library, services will become unavailable again at those locations. The Regional District will provide updates of any further closures due to strike action.
