Board Highlights - July 9, 2022

Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital District

The Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital District (CCRHD) adopted Bylaw No. 198 to fund 40% of the purchase of the Deni House Long-Term Care bus in the amount of $46,800.

Northern Health made a formal request for funding for the CCRHD’s portion of the following projects:

GR Baker Lab Chemistry Analyzers Replacement - The total project cost is $1,191,000. The CCRHD’s contribution is 40% totaling $476,400.
GR Baker General X-Ray Replacement - The total project cost is $1,000,000. The CCRHD’s contribution is 40% totaling $400,000.

Both requests were included in the 2022 CCRHD Financial Plan approved by the Board at its March 18 meeting. These bylaws will be brought forward to the Board at its August 12, 2022, meeting for consideration of three readings and adoption.

Rob van Adrichem, Director of External Relations presented to the board on behalf of Community Energy Association on Climate Action in Northern BC.

MLA Coralee Oakes was in attendance the Cariboo Regional District Board with updates in her Electoral District

Gook Streetlighting Project to move towards AAP Process

An alternative approval process (AAP) for the Cariboo Regional District Gook Road Streetlighting Service Establishment Bylaw No. 5394 was given the go ahead at today’s board meeting. The AAP process will take place in August 2022 – watch for more information in early August at cariboord.ca. These proposed new streetlights would help to improve public safety by providing more efficient lighting in the community by increasing the visibility of sidewalks and roads at night.

Board Approves Funding for Community Projects

The CRD Directors approved five grants for assistance:

$1000 from Electoral Areas D, E, F to the Caribruisers Jr Roller Derby/Williams Lake Roller Derby Association acting as Street Party 2022 Organizing Committee
$1000 from Electoral Area J to the Tatlayoko Field Station Society to update ageing equipment and technology updates for their owl banding project
$1000 from Electoral Area L to the Lone Butte Historical Association 1000 build a memorial gazebo
$1000 from Electoral Area L to the Deka Lake Rate Payers Association to hold a community event
$1000 from Electoral Area E to the Chilcotin Rd School Parent Advisory Committee to upgrade walking/biking trails used by students to get to and from school from Woodland Drive and Westridge areas.

Solid Waste Management Update

The Solid Waste Management Committee met at the end of June to review the progress made by the Advisory Committee for the Solid Waste Management Plan update. Board members were provided with an update from staff of progress made to date. Phase 2 of the planned public consultation will be initiated in the fall of 2022. COVID-19 Smart Restart Funds Allocated

Area D - $740 to the Wildwood Community Association for an arts workshop
Area E - $3 500 to the Chilcotin Road Elementary PAC to support and complement the school’s Active School Travel Program and creation of a large-scale mural
Area E - $3 500 to the Cariboo Disc Golf Association for the purchase of disc golf baskets
Area L - $500 each to the Deka Lake Ratepayers Association, the Interlakes Community Association, and the Lone Butte Historical Association

Truth and Reconciliation COVID-19 Restart Funds Allocated

Area E - $2 500 to Marie Sharpe Elementary School PAC for a crosswalk project
