Community Futures PASS Program
Laurie Walters, PASS Program Coordinator and Larry Stranberg, Community Futures Projects Manager with Community Futures Cariboo Chilcotin presented information on the PASS (planning a successful succession) program designed to prepare local business owners to sell their business. It was also noted that rural communities have additional challenges due to lack of population growth and that it can take up to 18 months to sell.
Cariboo Chilcotin Hospital Board
The Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital District 2022 Five-Year Financial Plan was adopted. According to the summary of the five-year financial plan there will be no need to borrow during the construction of the Cariboo Memorial Hospital rebuild and it will maintain sufficient reserve balances throughout the life of the project.
Collaborative Services Committee
On March 8 the committee met to discuss recruitment and retention issues for doctors in 100 Mile House and Williams Lake. Housing continues to be the number one issue, plus the cost of expenses for locums that had previously been covered by funding from Health Authorities and the Ministry of Health. There was a strong show of support to move the lack of funding for small communities to a political level.
Connectivity Committee
This new committee chaired by Director LeBourdais met on March 10 to identify and prioritize options and recommendations to facilitate development and expansion of connectivity (cellular and broadband) in the Cariboo Regional District. The committee is made up of four Electoral Area Directors (representing the South, Central, North and Chilcotin), a member at large from the tourism sector in the Cariboo-Chilcotin, a member at large from the agriculture sector in the Cariboo-Chilcotin. A member at large from the education or health sector (or a sector to be determined by the Board)

Director Angie Delainey was appointed as the Cariboo Regional District’s representative to the North Central Local Government Association Board.

Central Cariboo Arts & Culture Society Fee-for-Service Management Committee Appointment
Director Steve Forseth was appointed as the Cariboo Regional District's representative to the Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Society Fee for Service Management Committee for the 2023-2025 term.

South Cariboo Recreation and Culture
The South Cariboo Joint Committee (SCJC) and the Cariboo Regional District Board (CRD) have agreed to postpone the referendum for a proposed new South Cariboo Recreation & Culture service until 2023. Originally a referendum was proposed for June 2022.
Emergency Management Meeting
Chair Wagner, CAO MacLean, Ms. Masun, Manager of Emergency and Disaster Resilience, along with representatives from Emergency Management BC, B.C. Wildfire Service, Tsilhqot'in National Government, and the Cariboo Fire Centre went to Nemiah Valley to present a community protocol to Xeni Gwet’in, Chief Jimmy Lulua, and his council. This is part of an overarching emergency response program. Lunch was enjoyed with members of the Xeni First Nation, and the community protocol is expected to pass with some minor change.
MLA and Minister Meetings
March 16 - CAO MacLean and Chair Wagner met on March 16 with Cariboo/Chilcotin MLA Doerkson and MLA Oakes on a variety of topics such as road conditions, and land slippage. There will be an update in Victoria, B.C the week of March 21 with Minister Cullen, Minister of Municipal Affairs’ staff on long-term mitigation needs for currently affected structures as well as other potential ones.
Chair Wagner attended a supper hosted by Mayor Simpson where Minister Ravi Kahlon, Ministry of Jobs, Economic Recovery & Innovation was in attendance along with Councilor Elliott, Ms. Erin Robinson and UBCM President Laurie Ann Roodenburg in which a variety of topics were discussed from economic development challenges, housing shortage to ALC challenges.
