Williams Lake, BC – Following the completion of several engagement activities earlier this year, including meeting with members of the Agricultural Development Advisory Committee (ADAC), interviews with stakeholders and producers, and a survey, the consulting team has now drafted a Regional Agricultural Area Plan for the Cariboo Regional District.
The Agricultural Area Plan presents a vision for the future of the agriculture and food sector of the region, and focuses on actions that local government, in collaboration with key partners, can undertake to support the local agricultural industry in both the short and long term.
"The development of the Regional Agricultural Area Plan has been a great opportunity for farmers, ranchers, and food advocates to connect with one another and provide concrete suggestions for the future of agriculture in the Cariboo," said John Massier, Electoral Area C Director and member of the ADAC. "The Plan is in the final stages of being crafted, and we encourage all residents to come learn about the key themes and recommended actions that will be embedded in the plan."
The Agricultural Plan Open House will be held on Wednesday, October 12th from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the Cariboo Arts Centre (Graham Kelsey Room) at 90 Fourth Ave N. in Williams Lake. Members of the consulting team and CRD staff will be on hand to answer any questions.
Members of the public are encouraged to visit the CRD Agricultural Plan website to view additional information about the project and its timeline cariboord.ca/agplan
