Water systems operated by the Cariboo Regional District are experiencing higher-than-normal demand. This, along with the hot dry weather conditions means currently in many systems we are nearing capacity. Overuse could potentially mean we will run out of water. Low water reserves can also negatively impact the system’s water quality and the ability of emergency personnel to fight structure fires or wildfires. The CRD Environmental Services department asks for your help by following the guidelines and conserving water where possible.
Water sprinkling restrictions are in effect for all CRD water systems from May 1 to October 1 each year. The use of water sprinklers varies for each water system, based on the amount of water available. Enforcement may occur for those who do not adhere to the restrictions.

We want to be able to reach you in case of a utility outage, boil water notice or an emergency related to your water or sewer system. This is part of the CRD’s Emergency Response Plan for your utility service. The main ways we send out notices and emergency information are through the Cariboo Chilcotin Emergency Notification System, email, and on our website. In some circumstances, we also post signs in your community or go door to door. This is not always possible, so it is important that you are registered for the Emergency Notification System and the CRD’s emergency emails.
Visit cariboord.ca/EmergencyNotification to sign up or dowload the Voyent Alert! app for your apple or android device. This service is free, easy to use, and - most importantly - secure. With this system, we can provide access to trusted, timely, and accurate information about emergency incidents impacting your property.
To sign up for emails from the CRD, visit cariboord.ca/subscribe. Fill in your email address and select the water or sewer utility that applies to you. You can also sign up for other CRD updates, if you like, such as news and board meeting highlights.
Even if you already subscribe to other CRD emails, you still need to sign up for your specific utility updates. Follow the above steps and follow the prompts to update your profile and select the new categories you would like to receive information about.
If you have any questions, concerns or need to report a utility-related emergency, please contact our Environmental Service Department at 1-800-665-1636. If you are reporting a utility emergency after business hours, press 5 to connect to our after-hours emergency line.
Thanks for doing your part to conserve water.
