Starting on Wednesday, May 1, the Cariboo Regional District will be carrying out repairs to the Horse Lake Water System, causing temporary service disruptions. Repairs to a damaged blowoff along a section of Mullign Drive east of Granberg will be performed. Water supply to these properties will be turned off while the repair is completed, from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on May 1.
A Boil Water Notice will be put into effect on May 1 as a result of repairs and as required by the Drinking Water Protection Act. The Boil Water Notice will remain in place until two successive water samples with acceptable results have been returned.
System-wide flushing will also occur after repairs are completed and until Friday, May 3 to remove any built up sediment and other materials in the water supply. Residents may observe higher levels of sediment in their water supply while flushing occurs, and are asked to allow their water to run until clear when sedimentation is observed.

It is also recommended that residents use hand sanitizer after washing their hands with water from the system. For more information, please review the Boil Water Notice online.
The Horse Lake water system remains under a water quality advisory due to Manganese levels exceeding the maximum allowable concentration set by the Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines. Interior Health has advised that boiling water may increase the concentration of Manganese, and recommends that you secure an alternate source of water for preparing formula for infants and food or drinks for young children.
