JOIN YOUR FIRE FIGHTING FAMILY
Cariboo Regional District, B.C. – Our volunteer firefighters are the backbone of your regional fire protection services. However, some of our halls are in critical need of volunteers to join the team. We need you to be the difference to your community – you may be surprised at how much you can do.
A firefighter does more than just putting out fires and driving fire trucks – although you can do that too! Our firefighters pull together not only to support their communities – they also support each other, through good times and tough times. Being a firefighter means joining a family of safety professionals.
Our Fire Departments are professionally staffed by volunteers – members of your community ready to answer the call whenever they are needed – and we are asking you to join with your firefighting family to make a difference. You can learn more about how to become involved with your firefighting family by visiting our website at www.cariboord.ca/firedepartments
Quotes:
“We want you to provide the time, and we’ll provide the training. It makes a world of difference to our region when people walk into our firehalls willing to sign up and are willing to dedicate the time and effort to becoming a firefighter.” – Michael Navratil, CRD Manager of Protective Services
“If you’re showing up here and putting our patch on your shoulder, you’re here to serve the community. When you sign up with our department, you’re signing up to deliver a professional service.” – Paul McCarthy, 150 Mile House Volunteer Fire Department
“What we’re looking for in individuals when they want to be a firefighter is a sense of commitment – someone that wants to do this, that enjoys doing this, they have pride in the work they do. I was nervous, I was shy, and now I’m leading the department with what I can do. It always comes down to you’ve got to cross that barrier and see if you can do it or not.” – Eric Smith, Fire Chief, Kersley Volunteer Fire Department
