The Cariboo Regional District is cleaning the Lexington Reservoir on Thursday, September 26, 2024, as part of our routine preventative maintenance program. As a precautionary measure, after cleaning is completed, a Boil Water Advisory will be issued.  Once satisfactory sampling results have returned this will be lifted.

During this process you may notice your pressure drop and/or air in your plumbing. The process should take approximately six hours and will begin tentatively at 8am on the specified day. The CRD apologizes for any inconvenience.

Once cleaning is completed, we ask that you flush your plumbing with cold water for at least 5 minutes or until it runs clear. The CRD apologizes for any inconvenience.

The CRD is committed to providing safe drinking water. If you would like further information on reservoir cleaning or water quality in general, please feel free to contact the Environmental Services Department at 1-800-665-1636.

Trapped air in the pipework

The most common cause of cloudy water is aerated water. If there has been a change in pressure in the water supply network, for example if a pipe has burst or local repair work is being carried out, air can become trapped in the water running through the pipes and expelled via the taps.

Two glasses of water side by side. Clear water is being poured into one on the left. The one on the right is cloudy because of sediment in the water. The image is accompanied by an information box to the left side of the image.
