Spring and Fall Flooding Impacts Felt Across Cariboo
In the spring of 2020 the Cariboo Regional District experienced one of the wettest freshet seasons on record. The combination of rain and snowmelt run off saw creeks and rivers overflowing, culverts beyond capacity, roads washed out and range land underwater. Homes and basements were flooded by potentially contaminated water in many areas and landslides impacted both public access routes and private property.
This fall saw yet more unprecedented wet weather. Rural residents, ranchers, farmers, and property owners of all varieties have been impacted.
