Highway maintenance

Private contractors are responsible for maintaining public roads such as highways and secondary roads in our region. Municipalities are responsible for the streets and roads within their boundaries. Property owners are responsible for their driveways and any culverts on their property. The Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of forestry service roads.

Maintenance includes:

• driving surfaces
• roadside upkeep
• bridge maintenance
• winter maintenance

Important Note: The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) is not responsible for the repair and maintenance of any highways, roads, streets, driveways or culverts. Please see the contact list of agencies, contractors, and municipalities below if you wish to report a problem.

Report a problem

You can report a problem such as:

• potholes
• highway or bridge damage
• sign damage
• pavement marking
• drainage problems
• road debris
• animal carcass

You can also report problems with:

• overhead signs
• streetlights
• pedestrian lighting
• traffic signals

Municipal streets and roads

Roads, sidewalks, and pathways inside municipal boundaries are generally maintained by your municipal government. Exceptions include provincially designated highways and private/strata roads and pathways.
