EOC News Release 17-07 Update on evacuation orders and alerts in the Cariboo

Jul 10, 2017

Williams Lake, B.C. The Cariboo Regional District continues to monitor the fire situation within the regional district. The CRD issues Evacuation Alerts and Orders on the recommendation of the BC Wildfire Service.

The attached map shows an overview of all the current Evacuation Orders and Alerts. Further maps are available specifically for the South, Central and North Cariboo areas.

You can find information on each Evacuation Order and Alert at cariboord.ca or on Facebook at CRD Emergency Operations Centre. If the information about a specific area has not been updated in a while, that is because the information is still relevant and has not changed.

Evacuees are encouraged to register in person at reception centres in Williams Lake at the Lakecity Secondary School Carson Campus and in Prince George at the College of New Caledonia (West Entrance).

At this point, we cannot confirm any structural losses. We are collecting details, but our first priority is public and responder safety. Once it is safe to go into the area to determine accurate information, we will make every effort to contact the owners prior to providing information to the public.

Residents are reminded to register for the Cariboo Chilcotin Emergency Notification System by visiting the Cariboo Regional District at cariboord.ca.
