Reporting directly to the Manager of Development Services, the incumbent will be responsible for assuming a broad range of duties in the area of development planning, ALR and other permit and rezoning applications. Important components of this role include the interpretation and application of bylaws, policies and guidelines, implementation of long range planning initiatives, and data collection and analysis. This position offers the opportunity to provide direct customer service, advice and interpretation, and to research and write complex planning reports.
The successful candidate will possess a university degree in an appropriate discipline, plus a postgraduate degree in Community or Regional Planning or other related area, supplemented by some professional planning experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience within a local government setting is preferred. Applicants must have a valid class 5 driver’s license (or out of province equivalent).
In addition to the above qualifications, the ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and will be energetic, enthusiastic, well organized and able to communicate effectively with the public and a variety of stakeholders. Extensive computer familiarity is required with proficiency in visual presentations, word processing and spreadsheets. Membership or eligibility for membership in the Planning Institute of BC or the Canadian Institute of Planners is required.

This is a BCGEU position. The terms of this position include a wage range of $34.03 - $37.31 per hour depending on experience and education.
