April is utility bill time

Apr 9, 2019

Cariboo Regional District utility users will receive their utility bill in the mail this month. As a reminder, the CRD offers a 10% discount to anyone who pays their utility account in full by May 31, 2019. After this date, the full amount becomes due and payable by Dec. 31, 2019. The Cariboo Regional District does not charge penalties or interest.

Please be aware, any accounts with amounts owing after Dec. 31 will be transferred to the property’s land tax account at which time interest and/or penalties will be applied and the bill becomes payable to the Minister of Finance.

Utility Bill Payments

Utility users can make payments through most financial institutions and Credit Unions in B.C. This method of payment should be accessible through your online banking account, automated teller machines (ATMs), telephone banking or in person with a teller.

To pay your utility bill using a bill payment service, you will need to add a payee for utility bill payments to your bank account. To add a new payee to your bank account, you need to know our payee name and your account number. You should be able to find us listed with your bank under the payee name: Cariboo Regional District. However, some banks and financial institutions will use a variation of the payee name.

If you can't find the Cariboo Regional District online, call your bank for assistance or try entering a shorter version such as “Cariboo Reg Dist”. Your account number is listed on your Annual Utility bill. Your account number must be entered without spaces, decimals or dashes (e.g. 000 00000000 000 must be entered as 00000000000000).

Emergency Utility Information

Going forward, emergency information about water and sewer services will be sent through the Cariboo Chilcotin Emergency Notification System and email. In some circumstances, the CRD will also put signs in the affected community or go door to door. However, this is not always possible, so make sure you are registered for the Emergency Notification System and the CRD’s emergency emails.

  • Sign up for the Emergency Notification System at cariboord.ca or login at the same link to ensure correct contact information.
  • Visit www.cariboord.ca/subscribe to subscribe to email updates specific to each water or sewer system. Those already signed up for other CRD emails will still to sign up for specific utility updates.

If you have any questions, contact the Cariboo Regional District at 250-392-3351 or 1-800-665-1636 and talk to the Environmental Services department for utilities questions and the Finance department for billing questions.
