Career Opportunity - Summer Reading Club Coordinator

Applications are hereby invited for temporary full-time Summer Reading Club Coordinators in our Williams Lake, Quesnel and 100 Mile House Library Branches. Each location is offering one fourteen- week position, commencing May 22, 2020 and will conclude Saturday August 22, 2020. The scheduled hours at each location will be as follows:

Williams Lake Library:
Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays 10 am – 5 pm and Wednesdays 12 noon – 7 pm

Quesnel Library:
Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays 9:30 am –4:30 pm and Wednesdays 1 pm – 8 pm

100 Mile House Library:
Tuesday, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturday 10 am – 5 pm and Thursdays 1 pm – 8 pm

SUMMARY: The positions will be responsible for the delivery of the “Summer Reading Club” to the local/area community. Main duties include: Preparing thematic story units which engage children in reading activities; Leading and supervising children in story theme units, with related games and crafts; Arranging visits to local elementary schools to encourage participation; Organizing/scheduling program sessions and registration of participants; Providing a final report evaluating the success of the Summer Reading Club and related activities. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Preferred qualifications include experience in leading and supervising groups of children in a variety of activities, and knowledge of children’s books. To satisfy funding grant requirements and Cariboo Regional District requirements, potential candidates must be between the ages of 15 and 30, have been registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year and be returning to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year, be a student in a secondary, post-secondary, vocational or technical program, be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and be legally entitled to work in British Columbia.

WAGE: The BCGEU rate of pay for this position is $17.00 per hour, plus $1.50 in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.6% statutory holiday pay. A standard probationary period will apply.
