Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital District Board Highlights

The Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital Board received 8 items from Northern and Interior Health for its consent calendar. A full list of reports and items is available on the meeting agenda (consent calendar - item 4).

Northern Health Update

A delegation from the Northern Health management team appeared before the board via tele-conference to present a verbal update on current projects and COVID-19 response measures within the health authority.

CCHRD Capital Project Update

Hospital board chair Bob Simpson gave a verbal report on CCRHD capital projects. In particular, work slated for the Cariboo Memorial Hospital Emergency and Intensive Care departments is scheduled to go to tender in July with the contract to be awarded as soon as practicable.

Cariboo Regional District Board Highlights

Temporary use bylaw for 18 ha parcel on Bradley Rd approved

The board approved a temporary use permit for 2750 Bradley Creek Road (mud racing, seasonal camping, and other outdoor recreational activities) with a number of subject conditions, including the development of a sediment containment plan.

Setback reduction variance approved for Crystal St property

An application for a development variance permit allowing the reduction of a front yard setback at 1902 Crystal Street (Area A) from 7.6 m to 4.57 m was approved, to allow construction of a proposed addition to the existing dwelling.

Quesnel Junior School height variance approved

A variance permit to allow a second story for the new Quesnel Junior School was approved; subject to the applicant (School District #28) applying for an access permit from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure

Energy efficiency improvements for Likely Community Hall

A proposal for the installation of two (2) energy efficient refrigerators at the Likely Community Hall was received and a contribution of up to $3000 from the Community Works Fund for the project was approved.

 Tyee Lake Community Association AGM grant

A grant for assistance for $1000 from Area “D” grant for assistance funds by the Tyee Lake Community Association, to help with costs for the association’s annual general meeting, fundraising event, and community picnic was received.

Horsefly Community Hall kitchen upgrade grant supported

A grant application from the Horsefly Community Club to the Northern Development Initiative Trust for $15,000 in funding from the Community Halls and Recreation Facilities Program for the installation of a commercial kitchen was received and supported.

North Cariboo shop local funding request

A funding request from the City of Quesnel to support a north Cariboo Shop Local campaign, was received and supported -- with the recommendation that a contribution of $5,000 be made from the North Cariboo Economic Development function to support the campaign.

Support for online cannabis sales sought

A request from Stick & Stone Cannabis Co. and the Association of Canadian Cannabis Retailers (ACCRES) asking for the CRD Board’s support of changes to provincial rules to allow sales of cannabis products by regulated private retailers and the provision of direct door-to-door delivery to customers, was received.

Reintroduction of library services report endorsed

The Cariboo Regional Library’s plan for reintroduction of library services during the COVID-19 pandemic was received and endorsed.

Board Reports and Correspondence

Two items were received ­ a building permits report to April 2020 and the publication Proud to be Your Neighbour, from CN Rail

Committee/Commission Minutes and Recommendations

Two items were received including a recommendation that $30,000 of Cariboo Strong funding be approved for the South Cariboo Wheelchair Accessible Wilderness Trails project.

Director Richmond suggested for Barkerville heritage board

Director John Massier made a request that the CRD Board recommend Director Al Richmond to the Barkerville Heritage Trust Board  for consideration as a Director. Director Massier will be completing his third term on the BHT Board at their upcoming AGM and is not seeking a further renewal. The request was supported by the Board
