CCHRD Capital Project Update
Hospital Board Chair Bob Simpson gave a verbal report. Work slated for the Cariboo Memorial Hospital Emergency and Intensive Care departments is scheduled to go to tender in July with the contract to be awarded as soon as practicable.
Cariboo Regional District Board Highlights
Lac La Hache rezoning bylaw given first and second reading
The board gave first and second reading to South Cariboo Area Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 5210 to rezone a 0.23 ha (0.57 ac) property at 813 Eagle Avenue in Lac La Hache into three separate residential lots to legalize the existing dwellings.
Expanded service area applications receive pre-approval
The CRD board voted to pre-approve liquor primary and manufacturer applications for temporary expanded service areas made under the BC Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch Policy Directive No. 20-13. This will allow licensees to serve patrons while complying with the provincial health officer’s COVID-19 guidelines regarding physical distancing.
Cariboo Ski-Touring project funding application supported
A grant application from the Cariboo Ski-Touring Club to the Northern Development Initiative Trust, for $7,319 in funding for the Lodge Improvement Project, was received and supported.
Emergency Operations IT upgrade application supported
An application to the UBCM for the 2020 Community Emergency Preparedness Fund for $19,096 to assist with information technology upgrades and capacity expansion for the CRD Emergency Operations Center and Training Program was received and supported.
Greeny Lake VFD request for feasibility funds denied
A request for feasibility funds to explore the possibility of establishing the Greeny Lake Volunteer Fire Department as a CRD service was received. The request was denied as the initial investigation of staff determines that the undertaking is not economically viable.
Grants for assistance approved
Grants for assistance applications from the Forest Grove and District Rod and Gun Club (clubhouse renewal) and Williams Lake Cycling Club (bike park signage) were received and approved.
COVID-19 office reopening plan received and endorsed
The Cariboo Regional District COVID-19 Response Plan and Administrative Offices Reopening Plan dated June 11, 2020 were received and endorsed.
Board Reports and Correspondence
The Cariboo Regional District received four items on its consent calendar: a rural refuse report, stakeholder recommendations from the BC Real Estate Association, building permit statistics, and notice of public comment period and open house dates for the Cariboo Gold Project.
Committee/Commission Minutes and Recommendations
A report from the Regional Community Airports of Canada dated May 6, 2020 was received and endorsed, with a letter of support from the CRD to be sent to the federal government requesting funding through the Airports Capital Assistance Program.
A recommendation for increases in North Cariboo recreation and parks fees and charges over the next three years was received and endorsed.
Recommendations by the South Cariboo Joint Committee to forgive or defer payments from the 100 Mile House Soccer Association, 100 Mile House Wranglers Hockey Club, and 100 Mile Slo-Pitch Association due to the impacts of COVID-19 were received and endorsed.
A request by the Ministry of Forests, Land, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development for a financial contribution from the CRD for goldfish management in Dragon Lake near Quesnel was received. A motion to forward a letter requesting that the issue remain a Ministry-funded undertaking was approved.
Seven loan authorization bylaws for fire protection areas in the CRD were given first, second, and third reading.

The Cariboo Regional District Directors’ Remuneration and Expenses bylaw was given three readings and adopted.
Area A Director Mary Sjostrom made 3 appointments to the Kersley Recreation Commission. The incoming directors are Becky Dale, Lanny Dale, and Rod Grimm.
