The Cottonwood House Historic Site Accessible Trail Network officially opened in September 2010 and was built in partnership between the Cariboo Regional District, School District No. 28, and the provincial government through the Towns For Tomorrow funding program.
The trail network has approximately 3.4 km worth of trails which circle the perimeter, providing a unique view of the historic site and a spectacular view of the Cottonwood River. The trail network features a packed crushed gravel surface and has a very gentle grade.
The trailheads are both located at the Cottonwood Historic Site parking lots and an information kiosk displays a map of the site and the available trails.
The Cottonwood Historic Site is located 26 km east of Quesnel on Highway 26.
Ongoing management of the site is provided by Barkerville Heritage Trust.
