Utility System Notices and Advisories

The Cariboo Regional District's water systems are tested regularly to ensure they meet public health regulations.

The CRD issues a Boil Water Notice pursuant to a request from the Drinking Water Officer under Section 14 of the Drinking Water Protection Act.

An advisory remains in effect until it is officially rescinded by the Cariboo Regional District.

The CRD will not issue daily notices while the advisory remains unchanged. If you have not received a rescind notice, the Boil Water Advisory is still in effect.

When the advisory is lifted, the CRD will notify affected residents through the same communication channels used to issue the advisory, including Voyent Alert, the CRD website, and Facebook.

If you have further questions, please call the Environmental Services department at 1-800-665-1636 during regular office hours.

The CRD works with the local Health Authorities to investigate contaminations.

In order to lift a boil water advisory, the water system has to be without contamination for 2 (two) consecutive samples. In some circumstances, the Health Authority may have other specific conditions that must be met before the advisory is lifted.

Consider using hand sanitizer after washing your hands with tap water.

Boil water for a minimum of one minute before:

  • Drinking (or use an alternate, safe source of water)
  • Cooking (if not boiled)
  • Brushing teeth
  • Washing dishes
  • Washing fruits & vegetables to be eaten raw
  • Watering animals
