If you are interested in running for the office of Director for one of the Cariboo Regional District's Electoral Areas, information about the nomination process is provided below.

Nomination Period

The nomination period opens at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, and closes at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026. Completed nomination documents must be received by the Chief Election Officer before the close of the nomination period.

Nomination Package

Anyone wishing to run for the office of Director should begin by either downloading the Nomination Package below or picking up a printed copy at any Cariboo Regional District office. The package contains the required forms and information needed to file a nomination.

The Nomination Package is available:

  • Online: Download the Nomination Package.
  • In person: Pick up a printed copy at the Cariboo Regional District offices in Williams Lake, Quesnel, or 100 Mile House during regular office hours.

Submit Your Nomination

Once you have completed the Nomination Package, submit your nomination documents to the Chief Election Officer between 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, and 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026. Completed nomination documents may be submitted in person, by mail or courier, by fax, or by email to:

Who Can Run?

To be nominated for office, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen.
  • Be at least 18 years of age on General Voting Day (October 17, 2026).
  • Have been a resident of British Columbia for at least six months immediately before filing your nomination papers.
  • Not be disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting, being nominated for, being elected to, or holding local government office.

Campaign Financing

The following limits apply to the 2026 General Local Election:

  • Candidate campaign expense limit: $6,161.89
  • Third party advertising limit: $924.28
  • Cumulative third party advertising limit: $184,856.70
