Access Permit Requests

The Cariboo Regional District Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) may allow temporary access into an Evacuation Order area under limited circumstances.

Access may be considered for:

  • Critical infrastructure and utility agencies that need to service, inspect, or repair essential equipment or sites
  • Members of the agriculture sector who need to care for, move, feed, water, or check on livestock
  • Residents with a demonstrated critical need

All requests are reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis. Approval is not guaranteed.

  1. Complete and submit the Temporary Access Permit Request Form.
  2. The CRD EOC will review your request. This may take up to 72 hours. If more information is needed, the CRD EOC will contact you.
  3. The CRD EOC will contact you once a decision has been made. If your request is not approved, you will be notified.
  4. If your request is approved, the CRD EOC will send you the Temporary Access Permit Terms of Reference package.
  5. Review the package and sign and return any required waivers and documents to the CRD EOC.
  6. Once the CRD EOC receives the signed package and waivers, it may take up to 24 hours to issue your permit.
  7. You will then receive your permit, along with instructions and conditions for entering the Evacuation Order area.

  • Entry into an Evacuation Order area will only be permitted if the CRD EOC, in coordination with Incident Command (BC Wildfire in the case of wildfires), determines that it is safe to do so.
  • A permit does not override new emergency instructions. You must leave immediately if directed to do so. If conditions change or you are directed to leave, immediately leave the area and then contact the CRD EOC at 1-866-759-4977 to confirm whether your permit remains valid and to receive further instructions.
  • Permits may be revoked at any time without notice by the CRD EOC.
  • Checkpoint personnel may deny entry or revoke a permit if conditions change or deteriorate. If you are denied entry at the checkpoint, contact the CRD EOC at 1-866-759-4977   to confirm whether your permit remains valid and to receive further instructions.
  • Additional restrictions or requirements may apply depending on the location, hazard, and purpose of entry.

Upon entering the evacuation order area, you will be required to present government issued ID that matches the name on your permit.

If you are granted access, you are responsible for your own safety and the safety of all authorized personnel under the permit.

You are expected to:

  • Stay aware of current conditions.
  • Know and monitor your evacuation route.
  • Follow the terms and conditions of your permit at all times and carry your permit with you while in the area. You may be asked by the RCMP or other authorized agencies to present your permit to confirm that you are authorized to be in the evacuation order area.
  • Leave immediately if you feel unsafe or are directed to leave.

Failure to follow the terms and conditions of your permit may result in:

  • Immediate revocation of your permit;
  • Denial of future permit requests.

Please note:

  • Persons under 19 years of age will not be permitted entry into an Evacuation Order area.
  • Temporary Foreign Workers will not be permitted entry into an Evacuation Order area.
  • Only the individuals listed on the approved permit will be permitted entry.
