Each property owner will be billed $99.96 annually in April. If paid before the end of May, a 10% discount will apply, reducing the total to $89.96, working out to about $7.50/month.

No, the CRD secured grant funding to purchase totes; they are the property of the CRD and must remain with the property if you move. Each tote has a serial number for tracking.

No, you may choose to put your totes out only when they are full. This means you may only put your garbage tote out twice a month and the recycling tote out once a month, but be sure the recycling tote only goes out on a designated collection day.

In order to provide recycling collection for the 103 Mile and 105 Mile communities, the CRD entered into a contract with Recycle BC to receive funds to pay for the service. The funds provided are enough to provide bi-weekly collection. 

Yes, if your property is zoned for a secondary suite, a carriage house, or secondary dwelling (duplex) and one of the above is present*, additional totes will be supplied upon request by the property owner. Annual bills will reflect the number of services provided; i.e. if there are two sets of totes, you will be billed for two services.

No. Please put your totes out the morning of your collection day. This ensures snowplows can clear the streets in the winter and helps prevent attracting wildlife into the neighbourhood.

No, curbside collection will be done with an automated truck, which requires specialized totes for collection.

Start using your totes after October 1st. First garbage collection day is scheduled for October 10th and both garbage and recycling will be collected on October 17th. 

No, garbage will be collected in the morning and taken to the landfill, the truck will then return in the afternoon to collect the recyclables. On the days that both garbage and recycling are collected, your totes may not be emptied until 4:40 or 5:00 p.m.. Please allow this time for your totes to be emptied.

Glass and polystyrene foam will break during the collection and bailing process. The glass shards and polystyrene fragments will contaminate the remaining recycling, making it difficult or impractical to recycle. The glass shards also create hazards for anyone who handles the materials. Air separation is one of the methods used to sort some of the paper products, and plastic bags act like paper in this process, which contaminates the paper products.

The collection vehicle will drop recyclables off in 100 Mile House, where they will be bailed and shipped to the lower mainland for sorting and recycling.

Place your totes on the side of the street, on level ground, at least 2 meters away from vehicles or other obstacles. Place them so the lids open toward the street. If you find them in a new location after they've been emptied; use this location going forward (the driver will leave them where it's easiest for them to access).

If totes are out by 7:30 a.m. they should be collected; however, if pick up is missed, and there isn't room in your tote to last another week, call the CRD at 1-800-665-1636 and ask to speak to the Solid Waste Department. If recycling pick up was missed, please double check if it was a recycling day before calling.

Collection will still occur if it snows; you are not required to put your tote out every week. If there is a heavy snowfall, and your tote is not full, you are welcome to wait until the following week. No. Please do not use blue recycle bags or other plastic bags to contain your recyclables. Recyclables should be placed loose inside your tote. Shredded paper should be contained in a paper bag or in a box of some kind (i.e. cereal box, shoe, tissue paper, etc.)

No. If there are bags with any kind of material placed on top of either of the garbage or recycling totes, they will not be collected. The collection is automated; the driver does not have the ability the ability to put waste into the truck by hand. Please consider composting your yard and garden waste at home, or taking the material to the Lac La Hache Transfer Station.

These items can be dropped off for recycling at the Lac La Hache transfer station, or at the bottle depot in 100 Mile House.
