Yes, this is not an optional service. The CRD is working with Recycle BC so that both garbage and recycling services can be provided. One of Recycle BC's stipulations is that all homes within designated collection areas are included in the service.
During the Cariboo Regional District's (CRD) last Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP) update, curbside garbage and recycling collection services for the communities of 103 Mile and 105 Mile House were identified as potential new services. In May of 2023, owners of residential properties in the 103 Mile and 105 Mile communities were asked to complete a survey to indicate their interest in curbside garbage and recycling. Of those that responded, 67% from 103 Mile and 70% from 105 Mile were in favour of the new service. Use the link below to access the approved SWMP and view the SMWP Consultation Report.

The CRD's SWMP was approved by the CRD Board in December of 2023 and approved by the Ministry of Environment and Parks in March of 2025. Implementation of the SWMP is underway and roll out of the curbside services for 103 Mile and 105 Mile is scheduled for late September 2025. Residents can expect to receive their curbside totes after September 16th and if all goes according to the schedule, the first collection day will be Friday, October 10, 2025.
