Red Bluff Curbside Collection

During the Cariboo Regional District's (CRD) last Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP) update, curbside garbage and recycling collection services for the community of Red Bluff was identified as a potential new service. In May of 2023, owners of residential properties in the Red Bluff community were asked to complete a survey to indicate their interest in curbside garbage and recycling. Of those that responded, 71.9% were in favour of the new service. Use the link below to access the approved SWMP and view the SMWP Consultation Report.

The CRD's SWMP was approved by the CRD Board in December of 2023 and approved by the Ministry of Environment and Parks in March of 2025. Implementation of the SWMP is underway and roll out of the curbside services for Red Bluff is scheduled for late September 2025. Residents can expect to receive their curbside totes after September 16th and if all goes according to the schedule, the first collection day will be Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, this is not an optional service. The CRD is working with Recycle BC so that both garbage and recycling services can be provided. One of Recycle BC’s stipulations is that all homes within designated collection areas are included in the service.

Each property owner will be billed $99.96 annually in April for each household tote. If paid before the end of May, a 10% discount will apply, reducing the total to $89.96, working out to about $7.50/month per tote.

Yes, if your property is zoned for a secondary suite, a carriage house, or secondary dwelling (duplex) and one of the above is present*, additional totes will be supplied upon request by the property owner. Annual bills will reflect the number of totes provided; i.e. if there are two totes you will be billed for two services.

*Provision of garbage tote does not imply CRD authorization or recognition of unauthorized land use or compliance with CRD bylaws.

Garbage will be collected on Tuesday for the north-west area of Red Bluff and on Wednesday for the south-east area of Red Bluff. See collection map for details.

Garbage will be collected every week.

No. Please put your tote out the morning of your collection day. This ensures snowplows can clear the streets in the winter and helps prevent attracting wildlife into the neighbourhood.

No, curbside garbage collection will be done with an automated garbage truck, which requires a specialized tote for collection.

No, the CRD secured grant funding to purchase garbage totes; they are the property of the CRD and must remain with the property if you move. Each tote has a serial number for tracking.

Recycle BC is responsible for recycling collection, promotion and education. Recycle BC will provide information with your new recycling containers, and you can visit recyclebc.ca for more information: https://recyclebc.ca/.

Collection will still occur if it snows; however, you are not required to put your tote out every week. If there is a heavy snowfall, and your tote is not full, you are welcome to wait until the following week. Sign up to receive notifications of any changes to the service due to inclement weather or other reasons here: https://subscribe.cariboord.ca/subscribe.

Place your tote on the street, or against the curb if present, on level ground at least 2 meters away from vehicles or other obstacles. Place it so the lid opens towards the street. If you find it in a new location after it’s been emptied; use this location going forward (the driver will leave it where it’s easiest for them to access).

If totes are out by 8 a.m. they should be collected; however, if pick up is missed, and there isn’t room in your tote to last another week, call the CRD at 1-800-665-1636 and ask to speak to the Solid Waste Department.

For information on what and where to recycle, contact the Recycling Council of British Columbia who can answer questions specific to your community through the Recyclepedia search, phone, text, chat, or email.

Start using your tote October 1st. First collection days are scheduled for October 7th and 8th.

Contact the CRD at 1-800-665-1636 and ask to speak to the Solid Waste Department.  We will schedule to have the extra tote picked up.
