Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital District Update

The Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital District Board met prior to the CRD Board meeting and nominated Director Massier for the position of Vice Chair. The nomination recognizes Director Massier’s continued leadership and contributions to health-related initiatives across the region.

FireSmart Community Funding

The Board approved submitting a grant application to the Union of BC Municipalities’ FireSmart Community Funding and Supports program for up to $800,000. If successful, the funding will continue public education and FireSmart home assessment programs, add staff support for wildfire prevention, launch a seniors’ assistance program for property mitigation, and cover FireSmart material disposal at local solid waste sites.

Volunteer Fire Department Equipment and Training

The CRD will apply for up to $30,000 per volunteer fire department through the UBCM Community Emergency Preparedness Fund. The grant would support essential training and equipment purchases to improve safety, response capacity, and consistency across CRD fire halls.

Williams Lake Fringe Fire Protection Agreement

The Board approved renewing the Fire Protection Services Agreement between the CRD and the City of Williams Lake. The new four-year agreement continues coverage for properties in the Williams Lake fringe area through 2028.

Grant Supports Local Heritage Display in Lac La Hache

The Board approved a $834 Year-Round Grant for Assistance to the Lac La Hache Historical Society to create six interpretive boards showcasing the area’s farming and ranching history at the Felker Homestead.

Ministry of Transportation and Transit Delegation

Representatives from the Ministry of Transportation and Transit provided an update on the Cariboo Road Recovery Projects, outlining current and upcoming road repair and rehabilitation work across the region.
