Search our interactive map to see if your property address is in the Building Inspection Area. A A building permit is required to build on properties inside the building inspection area.
Building inspections provide property owners with guidance and direction for meeting the minimum BC Building Code requirements.
Some of the responsibilities of the Building Inspection Department are:
- providing a detailed plan review service, and the issuance of building permits
- providing building and plumbing inspections as laid out in the Building Bylaw No. 4997
- issuing permits for solid fuel burning appliances and inspections to confirm safe installations
- responding to public enquiries relating to construction standards and regulations
- ensure projects follow the zoning and land use bylaws of the CRD.
