Volunteer Fire Departments

The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) oversees 14 volunteer fire departments. All of them are recognized by the Fire Underwriters Survey for insurance purposes.

Become a Firefighter!

Interested in keeping your community safe? A couple of hours a week are all you need to become a volunteer firefighter:

No previous experience necessary
All required personal protective equipment and training are provided at no cost
Only have to fill out an application form, driver's abstract, and criminal record check
On duty insurance coverage
Practice once a week for two hours
Tax credits provided to volunteer firefighters from the federal government who serve at least 200 hours per year.

Fire Protection

The Cariboo Regional District has mutual aid agreements with fire departments, municipalities and several First Nations in our region. The agreements allow equipment and manpower from any of the departments to assist neighbouring services in the event of large fires or multiple incidents happening at the same time.
