Mission Statement

Our Mission:

Working in partnership with communities large and small, to make the Cariboo Chilcotin a socially, economically and environmentally desirable region to live, work, and play.

Our regional district is a federation consisting of twelve rural electoral areas and four incorporated municipalities. These sixteen jurisdictional areas each have one elected representative on our Board of Directors. Together, they work in cooperation to effectively govern the region, advocate on behalf of residents, and deliver local services to fit our residents varying and unique needs.

Our Values:

Our organization is governed by democratic principles and provincial law. In striving to uphold and reinforce these principles, we seek to uphold these values:

  • Honesty
  • Fiscal Responsibility
  • Accountability
  • Responsiveness
  • Environmental Sustainability

General Mandates

Our mandate encompasses four basic roles:

  • Provide region-wide services such as garbage disposal, emergency services, and land use planning.
  • Provide inter-municipal or sub-regional services, such as recreation facilities where residents of a municipality and residents in areas outside the municipality benefit from the service.
  • Act as the general local government for electoral areas and provide local services such as waterworks and fire protection to unincorporated communities within the electoral areas.
  • Represent all residents, including those inside municipal boundaries, on issues of regional concern.
