Board Committees

The Emergency Preparedness Committee is responsible for reviewing the CRD's emergency management program, and its members include six Electoral Area Directors. Its responsibilities include reviewing the CRD's emergency management plan, making recommendations to the board on emergency planning issues, and ensure that legal requirements set out by the Emergency and Disaster Management Act are observed. 

Terms of Reference

The First Nations Relations Committee will advise the Cariboo Regional District Board regarding matters relating to First Nations Relations of a non-treaty nature, and to consider matters referred to the Committee by the Board.

The Committee will be comprised of a cross section of directors representing the region, as appointed annually by the Chair of the Board.  The Board Chair shall also appoint one member to serve as the Chair of the Committee.  Quorum shall consist of a majority of the appointed elected officials, one of whom shall be the Chair of the First Nations Relations Committee.

Terms of Reference

The Heritage Steering Committee consists of a group of volunteers guided by one CRD Board member and supported by staff. It is responsible for considering matters related to the maintenance and development of the region's heritage registry. A key responsibility of the Committee is to review recommendations for proposed additions and removals from the heritage registry.

The CRD has three joint committees, which are responsible for reviewing recommendations and decisions related to shared recreation services and other matters of shared concern between municipalities and surrounding electoral areas. 

The North Cariboo Joint Advisory Committee includes the City of Quesnel and Electoral Areas A (Quesnel South), B (Quesnel West), C (Barkerville-Wells), and I (Nazko). The Committee primarily considers matters related to the North Cariboo Parks and Recreation Service, including programming at the Quesnel & District Arts & Recreation Centre, West Fraser Centre, and Alex Fraser Park.

NCJAC Terms of Reference

The Central Cariboo Joint Committee includes the City of Williams Lake and Electoral Areas D (Williams Lake North - McLeese Lake), E (Dog Creek - South Lakeside), and F (150 Mile - Horsefly - Likely). The Committee primarily considers matters related to the Central Cariboo Recreation and Leisure Service, including the Cariboo Memorial Complex, Esler Sports Complex, and various parks and green spaces.

CCJC Terms of Reference

The South Cariboo Joint Committee includes the District of 100 Mile House and Electoral Areas G (Lac La Hache - 108 Mile), H (Forest Grove - Canim Lake), and L (Interlakes). The Committee primarily considers matters related to the South Cariboo Recreation Service, including the South Cariboo Recreation Centre, 100 Mile House Soccer Fields, and Martin Exeter Hall Complex.

SCJC Terms of Reference

There are three Rural Directors Caucuses, reflecting the economic, social, and geographic relationships between groups of electoral areas and municipalities: North, South, and Central. These caucuses create an opportunity for informal discussions of issues that will affect, or have the potential to affect, the unincorporated areas they serve.

Municipalities are not represented at these caucuses, nor are issues impacting municipalities discussed at these tables.

The Policy Committee is responsible for conducting regular reviews of existing policies and considering new policies recommended by staff or referred from the Board. The committee's membership consists of up to eight CRD Board members and meets up to eight times per year.
