Area A By-Election
Area A By-Election
A by-election is being held to fill a vacancy for the Cariboo Regional District Electoral Area A Director for the remainder of the 2022–2026 term.
A by-election occurs when a seat on the CRD Board becomes vacant before the end of the elected term. Eligible voters in Electoral Area A will have the opportunity to elect a new Director to represent their area on the Board.

Who Can Vote in the Area A By-Election
To vote in the Cariboo Regional District Electoral Area A By-Election, you must meet the general eligibility requirements set by the Local Government Act of British Columbia.
Resident Electors (those who live in Area A)
You can vote as a resident elector if, on voting day (February 17, 2026), you:

Are 18 years of age or older;
-
Are a Canadian citizen;
-
Have lived in British Columbia for at least 6 months before voting day (since August 17, 2025);

Have lived in Electoral Area A for at least 30 days before voting day (since January 17, 2026); and
-
Are not disqualified from voting under the Local Government Act or any other law.
You do not need to own property to vote as a resident elector.
Non-Resident Property Electors (those who own property in Area A but live elsewhere)
You can vote as a non-resident property elector if, on voting day, you:

Are 18 years of age or older;

Are a Canadian citizen;
-
Have lived in British Columbia for at least 6 months before voting day;

Have owned property in Electoral Area A for at least 30 days before voting day;

Are not eligible to vote as a resident elector in Electoral Area A; and
-
Are not disqualified from voting under the Local Government Act or any other law.
If the property is owned by more than one person, only one owner may vote, and written consent from the majority of owners is required.

When you vote, you must bring two pieces of identification that together show your name and residential address—one of which must include your signature. Examples include:
