Accessing Building Permit Records
Permit records can be useful when purchasing property of planning a renovation.
The following are routinely releasable documents.
- Building Permits Issued (includes plumbing, heating, occupancy, notice of rejection)
- Building Inspection Reports (see Inspections page for list of inspections performed)
- Building Regulations and General Information
Current property owners can request and view or receive copies of anything in the file with the exception of the Plans/Drawings which will require an FOI request (standard fees for copies apply).
Non property owners can request copies of the above documents (redaction of personal information will occur and standard fees for copies apply)
If you require access to permit records, you will need to fill out the request form. Fees apply.
Creating a FOI Request
The following requires a Freedom Of Information (FOI) Request:
- Building Permit Application (This is not the issued permit)
- Plans/Drawings
- Bylaw Contravention
If you require access to permit applications, plans or drawings, you will need to fill out the FOI request form to be submitted to the Deputy Corporate Officer. Fees apply.
Licensing & Consumer Service NHRF
New Home Registration Form (NHRF)
Current property owner
- Can request and receive copies (standard fees for copies apply)
New property owner
- Verbal confirmation that the owner/builder is registered with NHRF
- Copies requested will require an FOI request form be completed.
- Fees will apply
- Commercial applicant fees will apply for realtors requesting copies
