Board Highlights April 2026

Highlights from the April 10, 2026 Cariboo Regional District Board Meeting

Forest Grove Firehall Referendum

The Board approved moving ahead with an assent vote (referendum) in July 2026 for renovations to the Forest Grove firehall. The proposal includes borrowing up to $880,000 over 10 years for the improvements. Residents in the service area will have the opportunity to vote on whether to proceed. An open house is planned for June 24, and more information for residents will be shared in the coming weeks.

Community Grant Support

The Board supported a $30,000 grant application from the 108 Mile Ranch Community Association to install an outdoor washroom facility. The Board also approved up to $45,000 in funding for the 100 Mile Nordics Ski Society to install solar panels at their facility.

Community Engagement Sessions Policy

The Board is moving forward with a new Community Engagement Sessions Policy, replacing the previous Board on the Road model. The updated approach is intended to support more local, accessible engagement and improve participation and feedback from residents. The new format will kick off in Electoral Area K.

The Board supported the formation of a working group to explore the development of an indoor multi-use facility in the Central Cariboo. The working group includes CRD Director Neufeld, CRD Manager of Community Services Darron Campbell, Williams Lake Mayor Surinderpal Rathor, and Stacey Miranda, Director of Community Services for the City of Williams Lake.
