Forest Enhancement Society of BC Update
Directors received an update from the Forest Enhancement Society of BC on projects taking place throughout the Cariboo. The presentation highlighted investments supporting forest health, wildfire risk reduction, ecosystem restoration and community resilience across the region.
Invasive Plant Management Advocacy
Support was provided for advocacy efforts related to invasive plant management in the Cariboo-Chilcotin. Information was presented on the impacts invasive species have on agriculture, natural ecosystems and local communities, as well as ongoing efforts to raise awareness and advance solutions.
2026 UBCM Convention Preparation
Preparations are underway for the 2026 Union of BC Municipalities Convention, where CRD Directors will meet with provincial ministries and agencies to discuss issues affecting the region. Meeting requests and advocacy priorities were reviewed as part of ongoing efforts to advance local and regional interests, including infrastructure, economic development, emergency management and community services.
Mountain Bike Championship Support
Grant support was approved for the 2026 BC High School Mountain Bike Championships. The event is expected to attract competitors and visitors to the region while showcasing local recreation opportunities and generating economic benefits for host communities.
Agricultural Marketing Support
Funding was approved for the North Cariboo Agricultural Marketing Association (FARMED) to assist with initiatives that promote local agriculture, support producers and strengthen awareness of the region's agricultural sector.
Regional Advocacy Partnership
The Board endorsed a request from the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George calling for a review of universal mental health care in Canada. By working alongside other local governments on issues of shared concern, the CRD helps amplify regional voices and advocate for improved services and outcomes for residents across British Columbia.
