Big Creek Community Hall receives funding for improvements

The Board approved up to $45,000 in Community Works Funding for improvements to the Big Creek Community Hall. The project will replace the hall’s exterior siding with metal cladding, improving weather and fire resistance while increasing year-round energy efficiency.

Solar project approved for McLeese Lake Community Hall

The Board approved up to $55,000 in Community Works Funding for a new solar power system at the McLeese Lake Community Hall. The project will install a 21 kW solar array with 42 panels, expected to generate more than 23,000 kWh of electricity annually and help reduce the hall’s operating costs.

CRD bringing invasive plant concerns to UBCM

Electoral Area J Director Betty Anderson will speak on behalf of the CRD Board in support of Resolution EB16 – Invasive Plant Concerns at the 2026 Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) Convention. UBCM represents local governments across British Columbia, and its annual convention provides an opportunity for communities to bring forward issues and resolutions seeking action from senior levels of government. The Board’s participation ensures Cariboo concerns about invasive plants are represented in those provincial discussions.

Forest Grove Legion receives 2027 property tax exemption

The Board adopted a permissive tax exemption bylaw for Royal Canadian Legion Branch #261 in Forest Grove, providing a 100% property tax exemption for 2027 on the taxable land and improvements identified in the bylaw. The exemption supports the Legion’s continued role as a community and non-profit facility.
