Nomination Packages Now Available for 2026 General Local Election

Residents interested in running for the office of Electoral Area Director in the 2026 General Local Election can now access nomination packages through the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) website.

The nomination period opens at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, and closes at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026. While nominations cannot be filed until the nomination period opens, prospective candidates are encouraged to begin preparing now by reviewing the eligibility requirements, nomination process, and key election dates.

To help prospective candidates understand what is involved in serving as an elected official, the CRD has also developed a Candidate Information Guide. Whether you're simply exploring the idea of running or are ready to submit your nomination, the guide provides an overview of the election process and the role of an Electoral Area Director.

The guide includes information on:

  • What the Cariboo Regional District does
  • The role and responsibilities of an Electoral Area Director
  • Time commitments and meeting expectations
  • Candidate eligibility and the nomination process
  • Key election dates
  • Frequently asked questions from prospective candidates
