Nominations now open for the 2026 General Local Election

Residents interested in running for the office of Electoral Area Director in the 2026 General Local Election can now submit their nomination papers.

The nomination period opened at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, and closes at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026. Candidates may seek election as the Electoral Area Director for one of the Cariboo Regional District’s 12 electoral areas.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to review the eligibility requirements, nomination process and filing instructions carefully. Nomination packages and other election information are available on the CRD website.

The CRD has also developed a Candidate Information Guide to help residents understand what is involved in serving as an elected official. The guide includes information on:

  • What the Cariboo Regional District does
  • The role and responsibilities of an Electoral Area Director
  • Time commitments and meeting expectations
  • Candidate eligibility and the nomination process
  • Key election dates
  • Frequently asked questions from prospective candidates

A list of individuals who have filed nomination papers is available on the CRD’s election webpage and will be updated throughout the nomination period. The official list of candidates will be confirmed following the close of the nomination period.

General Voting Day is Saturday, October 17, 2026.
