Evacuation Alert issued for PALMER CREEK FIRE AREA 2

Tŝideldel First Nation, Tŝilhqot’in National Government and the Cariboo Regional District have issued an Evacuation Alert due to the Palmer Creek Fire (C51473). Because of the potential threats to health, safety, and the welfare of persons, this Evacuation Alert is issued for the following areas:

See attached map

An Evacuation Alert has been issued to prepare you to evacuate should it be required. Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation; however, you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

  • Have a plan to transport all family members should the area be brought under evacuation order. Fill the gas tanks of personal vehicles.
  • Keep essential items such as medications, eyeglasses, government-issued ID, valuable documents, immediate care needs for dependents or pets and, if you choose, keepsakes, readily available for a quick departure.
  • Register to receive emergency notifications through Voyent Alert!
  • Check on friends and neighbours to see if they need assistance.
  • Ensure that all dependents are prepared for departure.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO (continued)

  • Prepare to move pets and livestock to a safe area.
  • Arrange accommodation options for your family, if possible.
  • Check with your insurer to determine what may be available to you - homeowner or tenant insurance may provide greater support than the Emergency Support Services program.
  • Monitor reliable news sources for information on evacuation orders and locations of Reception Centers and the CRD’s channels on Facebook and cariboord.ca/emergency

Residents are encouraged to register for the Cariboo Chilcotin Emergency Notification System to receive a text, call or email regarding Evacuation Alerts and Orders.

Further information will be issued as it becomes available. Please visit cariboord.ca/EOC for updates. For more information, contact:
