Williams Lake Library Closing Temporarily for Renovations

The Cariboo Regional District’s Williams Lake Library will temporarily close beginning August 30, 2026, while renovations are completed at the branch.

The library’s last day open before the closure will be Saturday, August 29, with the branch scheduled to reopen early November.

While the building is closed, library staff will continue to provide limited services through pop-up libraries outside the exterior doors of the Williams Lake Library from September 8 to October 16.

Pop-up library schedule

Pop-up libraries will be available:

• Tuesdays, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  September 8, 15, 22 and 29; October 6 and 13
• Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  September 9, 16 and 23; October 7 and 14
• Fridays, 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  September 11, 18 and 25; October 2, 9 and 16

At the pop-up libraries, patrons will be able to browse a limited selection of books, DVDs and audiobooks, place holds and pick up requested materials.

Holds from libraries across British Columbia will continue to be available for pick-up in Williams Lake through the pop-up libraries. Holds can be placed through the Cariboo Regional District Library's online catalogue at www.cln.ca, with staff at a pop-up library, or by calling the Williams Lake Library at 250-392-3630. Phone service may be intermittent during the renovation.

Please keep your library items during the closure

Patrons are asked not to return checked-out library materials while the Williams Lake Library is closed from August 30 to November 3.

There is no need to worry about due dates during the closure. Checked-out items will be automatically extended, no overdue fines will accrue, and patron accounts will be automatically renewed.

Library cardholders can also continue to access the CRD Library's digital resources throughout the closure, including eBooks, audiobooks, newspapers, research tools and other online resources right from the www.cln.ca website

The temporary closure will allow renovation work to be completed safely and efficiently while staff continue to provide as much library service as possible during construction.

The CRD appreciates the patience of library patrons during the closure and looks forward to welcoming the community back to the renovated Williams Lake Library in November.
