Evacuation Order downgraded to an Evacuation Alert for Bourgeois Creek Fire Area.
The Cariboo Regional District is issuing a downgrade for the Evacuation Order in the Bourgeois Creek Fire Area issued on July 22, 2026, at 8:45 p.m. This order is being downgraded to an Evacuation Alert.
Effective immediately, residents are allowed to return to the area. More information about re-entering the area following an evacuation can be found in the Guide to Re-Entry After an Evacuation. Please watch for livestock and wildlife on roads.

Residents Returning
Wildfires remain active and firefighting activities continue in the area. It is important for residents to stay out of active wildfire areas. Interfering in an active fire area will result in crews ceasing ground and air operations, potentially endangering nearby properties.
Please watch for livestock and wildlife on roads, as fences may have been damaged.
Residents should be aware that there may be danger trees in wildfire-affected areas. Danger trees on Crown Land will be dealt with by BC Wildfire Service danger tree fallers. Homeowners and private landowners are encouraged to work with their insurance provider to arrange an assessment by a qualified arborist.
It is also important to note that air quality remains poor as a result of smoke from nearby fire activity.
Residents returning to the area are encouraged to register for Voyent Alert! to receive text, phone, or email notifications regarding Evacuation Alerts and Orders.
Remaining on Evacuation Alert
Since these areas remain on Evacuation Alert, residents must be prepared in case the area receives another Evacuation Order on short notice.
What Should You Do?
- Fill your vehicle with fuel before returning and keep the tank full in case you need to leave again.
- Bring a minimum of three days of food and essential supplies, including medications and pet supplies, as local grocery stores may not yet have adequate stock.
- Have a plan to transport all family members should the area return to an Evacuation Order.
- Keep essential items readily available for a quick departure, including medications, eyeglasses, valuable documents (such as insurance papers), immediate care items for dependents, and any keepsakes you wish to take.
- Ensure that dependents and pets are prepared for departure.
- If possible, have accommodation options available for your family. A Reception Centre will be established again if required.
- Monitor reliable news sources and the CRD's Facebook page and website at cariboord.ca.
