Career Posting- Solid Waste Management Technician
The Cariboo Regional District invites qualified applicants to apply for the permanent full-time position of Solid Waste Management Technician located at the Cariboo Regional District office in Williams Lake.
Position Summary: Reporting to the Manger of Solid Waste and the Supervisor of Solid Waste Management, the Solid Waste Management Technician provides technical support services for the solid waste management department. The position conducts inspections, audits, monitors compliance with contracts, operational certificates and bylaws, performs electric bear fence monitoring and repairs, supports public education initiatives, and assists with reporting and documentation requirements.
Education, Experience and Qualifications Required:

Completion of a post-secondary diploma, certificate or degree in a related field such as Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Natural Resource Management, Civil or Environmental Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Five (5) years of related experience in solid waste operations, environmental monitoring, or a similar technical work environment.

Proficient with cell phone, computer use, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Must maintain a valid Driver’s Licence.
Wage: This is a full-time BCGEU position. The current rate of pay is $37.37 per hour plus benefits. A standard 90-day probationary period will apply, during which the candidate’s suitability for employment will be assessed.
Work Site Location: The successful candidate will operate out of the Cariboo Regional District office located at Suite D, 180 Third Avenue North, Williams Lake, BC. Travel within the regional district is required; the successful applicant must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Hours of Work: This position works a 9-day fortnight schedule, working 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Friday with a 45-minute unpaid lunch break and every other Friday off. Candidates will be required to be flexible and adapt to changing work demands.
