Board Re-Elects Chair and Vice-Chair for 2026

The Board elected its leadership for the 2026 term, re-appointing Director Margo Wagner (Electoral Area H) as Chair and Director Melynda Neufeld (Electoral Area E) as Vice-Chair. Both Directors will continue providing experienced leadership and oversight to the Board’s work in the year ahead.

Bouchie Lake Sewer Feasibility Study

The Board received the Bouchie Lake sewer feasibility study, including analysis of system design options, projected costs, and long-term service implications for the community. A public information session will take place in the new year, where residents will be able to review the findings, ask questions, and learn about the next steps in the decision-making process.

150 Mile House Referendum Results

Following successful assent votes on both borrowing questions, the Board officially adopted the bylaws required to move forward with purchasing a replacement fire engine and constructing a new firehall for the 150 Mile House Fire Protection Service Area. These approvals allow the project planning and procurement processes to begin.

McLeese Lake – Streetlighting Improvements

The Board endorsed the request for expanded streetlighting on Lagerquist Road in McLeese Lake and directed the Utilities Department to start advancing the project. Staff will now begin initial planning and assessment, with further details and community input to follow as the project progresses.

MLA Clare Highlights Regional Priorities

As a delegation to the Board, MLA Clare provided an update on regional matters, including transportation disruptions, road closures, and ongoing staffing challenges in the health-care sector. The update focused on the key issues facing Cariboo communities and the provincial awareness of these pressures.

2026 Business Façade Improvement Program

The Board approved submitting a $20,000 Northern Development Initiative Trust application to continue the Business Façade Improvement Program, supporting local business beautification projects in 2026.
