Electoral Area A By-Election
The Board appointed Alice Johnston as Chief Election Officer and Lore Schick as Deputy Chief Election Officer to oversee the 2026 Electoral Area A By-Election. Preparations are now underway to ensure a smooth and transparent election process in the new year.
Deka Lake & District Volunteer Firefighters Society
The Board approved a Year-Round Grant for Assistance to the Deka Lake & District Volunteer Firefighters Society. The funding will help the community’s annual Ice Fishing Derby, an event that raises funds to support the Volunteer Fire Department and strengthens community engagement in the Deka Lake area.
McLeese Lake Meals with Heart Society
The McLeese Lake Meals with Heart Society received a Grant for Assistance to provide meal delivery and community food programs for local residents
Community Works Funding – Big Lake Community Hall
The Board approved up to $15,000 in Community Works Funding for the installation of a new energy-efficient furnace at the Big Lake Community Hall. This upgrade will lower heating costs, improve comfort, and ensure the hall remains a reliable year-round gathering space for community events and recreation.
Interlakes Volunteer Fire Department Donation
The Board accepted a donation from the Interlakes Volunteer Fire Department Society of a 1-ton pickup truck and related equipment for use by the Interlakes Volunteer Fire Department
Community Wildfire Resiliency Plans
Forsite Consultants Ltd. presented the completed Community Wildfire Resiliency Plans (CWRPs) for Electoral Areas D, E, F, G, H, and L. The plans identify local wildfire risks, priority treatment areas, and mitigation actions that will help guide the Cariboo Regional District’s ongoing efforts to improve wildfire preparedness and community safety across the region.
Cariboo Region Forest Landscape Plan Update
Representatives from the Ministry of Forests provided an update on the Cariboo Region Forest Landscape Plan, which aims to improve how forests are managed across the region. The plan focuses on preventing, mitigating, and adapting to the impacts of significant disturbances—including wildfire, pests, and climate change—while promoting forest health, ecosystem resilience, and sustainable resource use in the Cariboo.
