Supports for Workers and Employers

*NEW – Rural and Remote Employment Initiatives Fund (RREIF) Business Advisory Supports – Canada/BC Government / NDIT 

The objective of the RREIF is to fund initiatives supporting people, businesses and the workforce in rural and remote communities across northern British Columbia. Applicants can access professional supports to address specific tariff-related impacts or sustain and/or create employment opportunities. Application Deadline: December 31, 2025.

StrongerBC Future Skills Grant (FSG) – Province of BC

The FSG is open to British Columbian residents aged 19 years or older, regardless of financial need. Covers up to $3,500 in eligible short-term skills training at public post-secondary institutions.

2025-2026 Community and Employer Partnerships (CEP) – Province of BC

CEP funds projects to increase training and work experience for job seekers in BC. Note: CEP is focusing on fewer, strategically chosen project-based labour market training projects that align with ministry and national priorities.

B.C. Employer Training Grant – Province of BC

Access skills and training required to adapt to the labour market’s changing job requirements. Employers can apply as often as they need and receive 80% of the cost of training up to $10,000 per employee, with a maximum annual amount per employer of $300,000. Continuous application intake.

2025 Business Façade Improvement Program – Northern Development Initiative Trust (NDIT)

NDIT works with communities and regional districts to provide funding to improve business facades. Business may be reimbursed up to $5,000 in matching funding through this program.

NDIT offers business development programs. Applications accepted on a continuous basis until the annual budget is committed.

Community Grants

*NEW – Northern BC Coaching & Officiating Development Fund – viaSPORT British Columbia / Engage Sport North

Funding may be used to reduce the cost of their training and/or certification courses, helping to increase accessibility to coaching and officiating development. Must permanently reside within BC Games Zones 7 or 8 (encompasses the Cariboo and Fraser-Fort George Regional Districts. Application Deadline: November 30, 2025.

*NEW - LeadForward Grant – viaSPORT / Engage Sport North

Strengthens balanced leadership for female coaches, officials or organizational staff throughout BC by supporting training, educations and policy development opportunities. Application Deadline: November 30, 2025.

*NEW – Cultural Practices Grant – First Peoples’ Cultural Council (FPCC)

Supports BC First Nations in planning, carrying out and documenting community-based cultural practices and events. Online information session November 20th from 2-3pm PT. Application Deadline: December 12, 2025.

*NEW – FireSmart Canada Neighbourhood Recognition Program (FCNRP)

FireSmart Canada developed the FCNRP to officially recognize neighbourhoods that have taken critical steps to reduce their vulnerability to wildfire.

Community Gaming Grants (CGG) - Province of British Columbia

Not-for-profit organizations providing programs or services of direct benefit to the broader community. Local organizations: up to $125,000 per year and Regional/Provincial organizations: up to $250,000 year. Application Period: Human and Social Services Deadline November 30 (notification by Feb 28, 2026)

Partnering with First Nations across BC to build capacity and advance sustainable growth, educational success and cultural revitalization. Various funding initiatives available through NRT.

Investment Agriculture Foundation (IAF) – Province of BC

IAF delivers a variety of programs supporting BC’s agriculture and food sector.

Local Festivals: Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage Program – Government of Canada

Funding provided to local groups for recurring festivals that present the work of local artists, artisans, heritage performers and local First Nations. Application deadlines vary.

Supports Indigenous climate action for a safer and cleaner environment for future generations.

Agricultural Clean Technology (ACT) Program – Government of Canada

The ACT Program aims to create an environment for the development and adoption of clean technology. Three priority areas: green energy and energy efficiency; precision agriculture and bioeconomy.

Community Economic Development & Diversification (CEDD) – Government of Canada / PacifiCan

The CEDD program creates economic benefits, investing in projects that harness local ambitions, assets, knowledge and economic opportunities to create prosperous and resilient communities. Accepting applications on ongoing basis. Funding varies by project.

Community Support Funding Programs – Community Futures North Cariboo (CFNC)

Funding programs include: Sponsorship Fund $500, Skills Development Fund $1000, Facilities & Equipment Fund $2500 and Business & Entrepreneurship Fund $5000. Applications evaluated by Board of Directors based on the criteria of each Fund. Applications reviewed on a monthly basis.
